History

Imam Reza Hospital was first established on 1947 (74 years ago) in Tabriz and was rebuilt in its current location in 2007.
This hospital has 655 active beds, 137 ICU beds, 51 emergency beds, 122 dialysis beds, and 26 operating room beds and has been built in an area of 72,500 square meters on 6 floors and provide the highest treatment standards as the main referral center in the northwest of the Iran. In this hospital, organ transplants including liver, kidney and bone marrow transplants are performed. It is also equipped with Air Emergency Medical Service center. This hospital have 173 faculty members, 437 specialties assistants and 34 subspecialties assistants and about 500 interns and trainees. Also it includes 9 research centers in the fields of gastrointestinal and liver, emergency medicine, kidney, connective tissue, endocrinology, physical medicine, lung, blood and the nerves for do their researches. In addition to, in Covid-19 pandemic, this hospital has established a studio called Covid Studio, which is unique among Iranian university centers. Departments of the Imam Reza Hospital include Emergency medicine - General surgery - Neurosurgery - Neurological diseases - Urology - Internal - Radiology - Infectious and tropical diseases - ENT - Anesthesiology - Pathology - Orthopedics - Physical medicine and rehabilitation - Oral and maxillofacial surgery.
