History of Tabriz Orthopedic Department
The Department of Orthopedics of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences started its activity in the Department of General Surgery in 1347, and this field was officially opened by distinguished professors such as Dr. Mirbaha, Dr.Dilmaghani, Dr. Taghizadeh, and, Dr.Shadgan. In 1352, Dr. Mohammad Ali Dilmqani and Dr.Asghar Shahabi were accepted as the first assistants of the Orthopedic Department. This group separated from the general surgery group in 1353 and continued its educational activities as an independent group, and in 1374 it was transferred to Tabriz Shohada Hospital to experience educational and therapeutic activities together. Currently, Tabriz Orthopedic Department with 16 faculty members and 44 orthopedic assistants is working in Shohada- Shahid Ghazi Tabatabai Hospital, Imam Reza Tabriz Hospital.
The orthopedics group operates in the fields of general orthopedics, spiral surgery- arthroplasty- sports medicine- shoulder surgery- pediatric orthopedics- spine- knee- sports medicine.
Mission
The Department of Orthopedics is responsible for implementing the policies formulated by the university's respected policy makers regarding educational, research and therapeutic issues by setting the strategic plan of the group based on the announced macro policies. The mission of the group is to create a suitable background and platform for attracting assistants, research training and treatment along with the training of committed and expert human forces and the training of physical medicine and paramedicine medical students. Besides this important mission, this group will also lead the production of science in related fields.
Vision
The ultimate goal of the activities in this group is to provide a suitable platform for the training of specialized human resources with regulatory goals for education and research, research and treatment, and finally responding to the needs of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences and the needs of society and will try to produce science and research products in the region and in the world.
