Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Department of Imam Reza Hospital

Department of physical medicine and rehabilitation in Imam Reza teaching hospital was established in late 2007(1386) and it forms the central part of department and composed of 5 academic staff who are active here in divided days . This department has several treatment or research sections which are as the followings:
 Physical medicine section:
1-Electrodiagnostic Center including nerve conduction study/electromyography
2-Evoked Potentials (Visual, somatosensory and auditory brain stem responses or VEP, SEP, ABR)
3-Intra articular injection for shoulder and knee joints problems as well as tendinitis, trigger finger, frozen shoulder, etc.
Rehabilitation section:
4- Neurologic Rehabilitation: stroke rehabilitation unit or SRU for post stroke patients either inpatient rehabilitation during hospitalization time or after discharge as outpatient rehabilitation.
5- Orthopedic Rehabilitation: for patients after fractures, knee & hip total arthroplasties, and post disc surgeries.
6-Posture Analysis for skeletal deformities diagnosis and planning of rehabilitation treatment for these disorders such as genuvarus and geneuvalgus ,flat foot, kyphosis and scoliosis.
7- Orthosis & Prosthesis Prescription for disabled patients as well as above mentioned deformities postural abnormalities.
8-occupational therapy for hand rehabilitation and functional restoration in neurologic disorders.
9-speech therapy for stroke patients with language and communication disorders 
Research section:
Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation research center presents and approves the following research projects:
Complementary treatment such as PRP (platelets rich plasma), hyaluronic acid derivates injection, and Prolotherapy in knee osteoarthritis & other musculoskeletal disorders.
Other complementary medicine procedures including acupuncture, dry needling, and manipulation in myofascial pain syndromes and.
New rehabilitation treatments in musculoskeletal problems such as hippo- therapy in LBP and children with CP.
Neurorehabilitation for stroke patients and Neurodegenerative disease patients.
 EECP (Enhanced external counter -pulsation) in IHD Patients.
New methods in physical agents’ application.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound guided diagnosis & injection.
8-Traditional medicine such as phytotherapy, medicinal seeds and plants, Nutritional sciences for musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders treatments.
