The division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences was established as a part of Department of Medicine in 1983.
The division started the first active intensive care in Iran in 1984 and dedicated to apply most advanced disciplines of evaluation and care for patients with respiratory diseases, critically ill, and sleep disorders. The division also has had intimate relationship and cooperation with the authorities and providers of care in the field of preventive medicine in department of public health. Currently our division is comprised of one pulmonary ward and five intensive care units, sleep clinic, two advanced pulmonary function labs and an advanced bronchoscopy unit. Our division intends to provide state of the art care for patients in these fields and is highly active in teaching and research in the related areas of medicine.
The division has been approved for subspecialty training for several decades and so has been active in training of medical students, medical residents, and subspecialty fellows in pulmonary and critical care medicine.
The division is also has established Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Research Center that is active extensively in research at several fields of the pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine.
