Introduction of General Surgery Ward
General surgery ward of Imam Reza hospital is the referral point in north west of Iran for trauma, cancer, peripheral vascular, and other fields of general surgery. Here we offer state of the art services for patients in need of elective or emergency trauma, peripheral vascular /intervention, breast, endocrine, upper GI, colorectal and perianal, obesity, hepato-biliary, liver transplant, breast, hernia, and laparoscopic surgery. Our colleagues in general surgery ward have various subspecialties covering these fields. We have a dedicated general surgery ICU, 2 general wards, and one vascular/intervention ward, and outpatient clinic.
Within these wards we have education programs for medical students (as general surgery rotation). We have a general surgery residency program with 8-10 residents accepted each year. We also have a trauma surgery fellowship program, and residents from other disciplines have rotation in our wards. Our academic staff, residents, and medical students have research activities in various fields of general surgery, including thesis and projects.
We offer these treatment, educational and research services in conjunction with other sections of Imam Reza hospital, including emergency, radiology, nuclear medicine, gastro-enterolgy, nephrology, oncology, radiotherapy, and pathology departments.
